The Summer Hikaru Died” anime premieres July 5 — and it might emotionally wreck us all

Just a heads up for anyone into emotional horror, The Summer Hikaru Died (光が死んだ夏) officially premieres on July 5, and if the anime even comes close to how intense the manga was thy're going for gold. I read the manga a while ago, and honestly, it still sticks with me. It’s one of those stories that just slowly unravels you. The kind of quiet horror that makes your skin crawl, but also breaks your heart a bit. It’s about two boys who are best friends, but something happens, and suddenly one of them might not be human anymore. And the worst part is… the other one knows. That feeling of grief, denial, and trying to hold on to something that’s already gone? This manga nails it. Studio Cygames is handling the adaptation, and from what we’ve seen so far (trailers + visuals), it looks like they’re going for that soft, unsettling atmosphere the manga did so well. If you’re into psychological horror like Shiki, Paranoia Agent, or even stuff like Boogiepop Phantom, you should definitely keep your eye on this one. [link] [comments] |
